The three authors now await the final selection by best-selling author Dirk Cussler.
The winner of the competition will be announced at the Clive Cussler Collector’s Society’s 2016 convention in Denver, on the night of October 8, and receive a $1000 prize and the coveted “Clive” – the Grandmaster Award trophy.
“I was stunned last month to find out I had made the semi-finals of the AWC contest with my second novel. Every aspiring author wants to have his work recognized and said notification more than accomplished that,” commented finalist Ken Barnett. “When I heard I had made the finals, I was completely overwhelmed! I am looking forward to the announcement of the winning novel on Oct. 8th and intend to be present at the ceremonies. My congratulations go out to the other two finalists, as well as the other seven semi-finalists! This is one more step in creating a straighter path with our writing careers!”
The Adventure Writers Competition is held yearly for authors of new and recent adventure novels. Now in its sixth year, the world-wide contest has attracted hundreds of entries to date. “This was a great year for the competition,” said AWC Director Peter Greene. “Our largest field yet, it was an honor to read this new crop of adventure novels. The top three spots were separated by only three points! That’s as close as it gets."
"The focus on adventure of the AWC makes it truly unique among writing competitions," said finalist John Thomas Everett. "The number and quality of its submissions gives it valuable prestige, and its sponsorship by the CCCS adds clear pedigree. To be among the finalists for 2016 is both energizing and personally very satisfying."
The Adventure Writers Competition will begin accepting entries for the 2017 competition in March of 2017. Aspiring entrants may see the AWC web site for more details, rules and entry procedures: www.adventurewriterscompetition.com.
“Everyone I’ve met from past AWCs has become a supportive member of my writing network,” said finalist John R. Montieth. “I’m excited to attend the awards ceremony as a finalist so I can meet like-minded comrades and develop new relationships with people who enjoy reading and writing adventure fiction.”
Good luck to all the entrants going forward, and to our three finalists.
