Open Casting Call Takes Place in Edenton, North Carolina, The Birthplace of Harriet Jacobs - Fugitive Slave and Author
When: Saturday, August 20, 2016 from Noon to 5 p.m.
Where: Swain Auditorium, 200 East Church St. in Edenton, NC 27932
What: Open casting call for SAG-AFTRA (pending) feature film “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.”
Why: The production team is seeking to fill the lead role of the young Harriet Jacobs, a slender African American female. All actresses who submit must be at least 18 when filming begins, but can portray a 15 year old.

How: Email a current head shot, resume, and size card with your contact information to Lifeofaslavegirl.wsa@gmail.com. Emailed head shots will be reviewed; however, to be considered for the lead role, it is mandatory to attend the open call in person. Please bring your head shots with you at the casting call.
Talent may be asked to read lines in front of the casting director, producers and writers. There is no fee to audition. The casting call is open to the public.
Synopsis: Set during the late 1800s in Edenton, NC, Harriet Jacobs spent seven years hiding in her grandmother’s 7’ x 9’ crawl space to escape the tyrannical slave master who refused to stop looking for her. With a $100 bounty on her head, she escapes, writes her autobiography about the horrors of slavery, and the abolitionist who helped her to freedom.
Filming is expected to begin in 2017 in the Edenton, North Carolina area.
