The Symposium kicked-off with a Welcome Cultural Event at the Nevis Four Seasons Resort at 7 PM on Monday, October 19. The following morning, Keith Powell, thought leader and Business Revivalist, led a session on, “Riches in the Niches – Selling Nevis as a destination for Romance.” Keith is sought after around the world for his knowledge of trends and how they affect our thinking, selling, marketing and living. The second informative presentation was by Paula McCory, Social Media Marketer and Taste Influencer, who has over 4 million followers on Pintrest, where she shared best practices for using social media to promote Nevis.

An interactive tradeshow introduced attendees to local suppliers of the romance travel industry in Nevis. A full portfolio of support providers from caterers, to décor specialists, to wedding and event planners, to photographers, to videographers were on-site to answer questions and highlight what services they would be able to provide to visitors.

Throughout the symposium guests were able to travel across the island and visit popular and beloved locations to experience the product firsthand as the best way for attendees to provide their clients with expert information. Scheduled visits included the Hamilton Beach Villas, Nelson’s Spring Villas, Coconut Grove Restaurant, the famous Sunshine’s Beach Bar and Grill, Mount Nevis Hotel, Cottle Church, Oualie Beach Resort, the Botanical Gardens, and Paradise Beach Villas.

Other highlights included presentations by honeymoon travel expert, Nancy Barkley of Honeymoons and Get-A-Ways and Natalie John of Dream Weddings. As founder of a full service honeymoon and destination travel management firm, Nancy shared her knowledge of what romance clients are looking for, expert advice on how to sell destinations weddings as well as how to stay ahead of the curve in trends in the romance industry. Natalie John, CEO and Founder of Dreamy Weddings, covered the industry and intricacies of destination weddings in Nevis. The symposium culminated in a mock wedding on the beach in paradise to show off Nevis in its most romantic form, and what heights can be achieved in planning a destination wedding in Nevis.
