With the increased volume of shipping passing through the canal, it is expected that Egypt will now become a top global hub for the transshipment of goods and for the location of value-added services, as new industry establishes itself in the Canal Zone corridor and on Egypt’s coastline.
As part of this process, a total of US$150 billion of investment is expected to take place in the zone in the coming 15 years, together with major projects in Egypt’s coastal areas.
