Launched in early June 2014, the Cyber Essentials scheme is designed to improve the resilience of UK businesses to cyber security threats, and provides verifiable certification of their robustness.
In order to achieve Cyber Essentials certification, companies are required to complete a self-assessment questionnaire, which is signed off by a senior company representative and then verified by an external certification body. An external vulnerability scan will also be required if the company has chosen to be certified through a CREST-approved certification body like IT Governance.
