Served with Heart: Jamboni Brothers Pizza

HAMMONTON, NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES , April 2, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Not everyone can combine a pizza parlor, animation, and one of the most gripping events of the Christian Holy Week, and come up with an animated TV series that inspires and entertains, but Greg Duva has found a way to do just that. His trailer for Jamboni Brothers Pizza tells the story of faith overcoming adversity through the voice of Joey Cannoli, who describes himself as the proprietor of New Jersey's biggest pastry shop. With a name like Cannoli, what else could he be? One day, his friend Antonio Jamboni comes in; he's in dire straits, searching for work but to no avail. All his efforts have come to nothing. But Antonio hasn't given up. He knows what he's good at, and he knows that his prayers will be answered. He tells his pal, "I can pray, and I can draw. So I'll do both at the same time."

That night, on his knees, he begins to pray. As he prays intensely, he draws the images of Jesus' Scourging at the Pillar.

After Antonio Jamboni and his wife go to church the next day, they stop at a shrine in New York to pray the rosary. When they're in front of the statue which is dedicated to the scene that Antonio drew, directly in their line of vision, a bright red cardinal appears, its feathers as red as the blood on Jesus' wounded body. The image makes a powerful impression on Antonio, who knows at that instant that everything would be all right.

Cannoli is a little more skeptical. Actually, he thought his friend was a little disturbed. But then, the event had an equally powerful effect on him. And not only on him, but on the entire world.

In order to bring this animated TV series to life, Duva has begun a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to raise $25,000 by May 1, for the pilot. The funds raised through crowdfunding efforts will help to cover the following expenses for the seven-minute animated production of the Jamboni Brothers Pizza television pilot: $14,000 for cleaning up and coloring the rough animation; $10,000 for sound/music editing; $1000 for storyboarding and any necessary post-production work. The script for the pilot is approximately 90% finished.

The Jamboni Brothers Pizza project was born in 2008 while Duva was out of work. He had been hired as an art teacher in a high school and was implementing a New Art Program, teaching sculpture, CAD, animation, and art and a basic music class, but when a new principal came on the scene, Duva found himself out of a job. He used the time to work on his project and other artistic opportunities including voiceovers, animation, and online comic strips. He has showcased the work on the websites that he created.

Says Duva, I really believe in this because the show is all about having sensitivity to personality, which I fear our world is losing. This is all about heart. His theme reflects his Catholic faith, traditional upbringing and his respect for a time when compassion is more powerful than passing trends.

Jamboni Brothers Pizza is about heart, and the campaign is also about rewards. Backers who donate $100 will receive an Italian dinner with live accordion music; a short cartoon cameo (no dialogue) on the pilot; and a realistic portrait. Pledges of $1,667 or more will receive a talking cartoon spot {15 seconds, minimum} on the pilot; an embroidered Jamboni Brothers Pizza shirt, realistic portrait and Italian dinner with live accordion music. Backers who donate $3000 or more to the campaign will receive, in addition to the other rewards, a featured advertising spot {produced by the backer} both before and after the pilot.
