Sika China donates 1000 children books and new tables and chairs to establish a library for an under-financed primary school in Chongqing in China.

SHANGHAI, SHANGHAI, CHINA, March 23, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- There is an old saying in China: “A man should read a lot and travel a lot to see the world.” However, the children who grow up in China’s rural communities may never be able to see the rest of the world. The Library Project knows that exposure to books can make a world of difference to them.

The Library Project believes that knowledge brings change and education is the key motivator to breaking the cycle of poverty. It donates books and libraries to under-financed schools and orphanages in China. The Library Project started in 2006 and began to cooperate with China Population Welfare Foundation in 2012. It has established 1488 libraries covering 34 provinces in China with 480,727 children impacted.

Sika, headquartered in Switzerland, regards the sponsorship commitments as a long-term collaboration in the form of partnerships. With the sponsoring activities, we want to make a useful contribution to the society and the environment in which we live. Therefore Sika sponsoring on a global level focuses on social, educational and environmental issues globally, such as Operation on Smile, Liter of Light, Global Nature Fund, etc.

In 2015, Sika China joins in the Library Project. The first school Sika China donates is Zhusha Primary School in Yushan town, about 300 km from Chongqing. There are 287 students with only 57 children books. Sika donates 1000 children books and new tables and chairs to establish a library for this school.

On March 18th, a team of 12 Sika volunteers from the HR, Marketing and West Region, came to Zhusha Primary School for the donation. After a short ceremony, Sika volunteers played with the children and helped to sort, number and label the books. Moreover, Sika volunteers brought stationeries and Sika dolls as gifts to the children.

A Sika volunteer said: “I’m very proud of our company to help these children and feel honored to be a volunteer. I am impressed a lot with their enthusiasm for reading. When we were still organizing the library, the children could not wait and rushed into the room and took the books to read.”

Frank Huang, Vice President of Sika China, said: “We are very glad that we can help on the growth of the next generation by joining in the library project to improve their education environment.”
