Building effective cyber security management skills essential for tackling cyber risks

ELY , UK, January 13, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The shortage of cyber security skills has been a primary concern over the past year, with experts predicting that the phenomenon will worsen in the next few years. Research by KPMG on senior IT and HR professionals suggested that UK companies would even consider hiring ex-hackers to solve the skills shortage.

A recent report by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) warned that there is a shortage of the skills required to meet the evolving demands of the cyber security industry.

Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of cyber security firm IT Governance, says, “With cyber criminals becoming more sophisticated and the emergence of new cyber security challenges, it is crucial that organisations can draw on internal as well as external expertise to cope with the rising threats. Developing a professional staff training programme and supporting individuals in acquiring new skills and experience will be essential for countering cyber risks.”

In order to help companies and individuals boost cyber security skills, IT Governance has launched a special January training course offer. In January 2015, prospective delegates can book any eligible IT Governance training course (classroom or Live Online) at 10% off the list price if booked online. The offer closes on 31 January 2015.

Calder adds, “Our training programme offers a structured learning path from Foundation to Advanced level, and is focused on building the management skills required for effective cyber security, cyber resilience, data compliance and IT governance.”

Courses that can be booked at a discounted price online include CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, Cyber Essentials, Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Workshop, COBIT 5 Foundation and more.
