Upendo wa yesu, Belief and Love

WELLESLEY, MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Imagine for a moment being a teen, graduating from school . . . and then nothing. No jobs to be had anywhere, no way to earn a living. In Uganda, youth unemployment rate is at 80%. There are at least 7 million young people between the ages of 15 and 24 living in Uganda. There are jobs available for only 20% of them. This is where people like Princessa Clendinan, Patrick Lutaaya and maybe even you come in. The dance and song troupe, Upendo wa yesu, hope to earn enough money through performances to build a Youth Entrepreneurial and Empowerment Center. The Center would create opportunities for young Ugandans to learn new work skills and to perhaps even develop their own businesses.

Upendo wa yesu (which translates as “love of God”) presents traditional dances from their homeland, as well as inspirational material. Their material is suitable for church or school performances, and for cultural events. In backing their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, you not only give them the opportunity to earn the money needed for the center, you also give some very talented young musicians an opportunity to share their considerable talents. The troupe is affiliated with NSCC missions, a 501 c 3 non-profit organization. The goal of the Youth Center would be to first create jobs, second to train youngsters so that they will have the skills needed to find work or to even start their own business, and third, to teach those skills to others. The Center will need computers, books and teachers. Your support of Upendo wa yesu will help them to use their considerable talent to earn the money to make many of these things happen.

These youngsters believe that if they have faith, and work hard they will achieve their goals. They have the talent and the will, now all they need is enough money for transportation, food and lodging while they tour the US. In addition to raising funds for the Center, they hope to attract businesses in the US to participate in development in Uganda.

If you are interested in booking a performance by Upendo wa yesu, you can contact Princessa Clendinen through the Indiegogo website. She and Patrick Lutaaya are co-founders of the group.
Rewards for contributing to this crowdfunding campaign include heartfelt thanks, signed photographs of the group, souvenirs from Uganda, downloadable audio files, a t-shirt, signed CD album, and visits to your establishment, providing they do not conflict with official tour agenda. And, of course, since NSCC is an approved non-profit, you can also report your donations as a charitable contribution.
If you would like to learn more about the group, NSCC or Princessa, you might take a look at her Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/justbelievepublishing. She was the featured person on Today’s Honoree on January 13, 2014. (http://todayshonoree.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/missionary-dentist-princessa-clendinen-is-todays-honoree/) The article shows a day of dental work at a small village.
There you have it. If you are looking for a deserving recipient for a contribution, you could look for a very long time without finding a better candidate than Upendo wa yesu. These young performers and their leaders have a goal in mind that will not only benefit the singers and dancers in the group, but also many other young people who are in need of education and jobs. If you are a business person who would like to expand your endeavors to another country, Uganda has many willing hands and very few jobs. That would seem to be an excellent recipe for development. If you would like a talented group to perform for your church or for a similar institution, then look no further. These youngsters have plenty of talent, as well as faith and enthusiasm. All that is needed is a little seed of loving-kindness to encourage this particular small garden of endeavor.

Perhaps you cannot make a charitable contribution at this time, and you are not a business person looking for a place to expand; you can still help out. Spread the word – post the link on Facebook or on Twitter. Tell others about the group and show them the samples of their performance. Every little bit counts when it comes to developing an idea such as this.
