Preparations for construction of infrastructure begin at Messoyakha fields

Drilling service companies have started work atthe Messoyakha group offields. Equipment and materials have been brought infor construction ofthe main field development infrastructure. Ithas only been possible totransport loads tothe site since the winter roads have been inplace.

In2014, preparations for construction atMessoyakha will becarried out, including ofthe central collection point, gas turbine power plant, approximately 100km ofoil pipeline, and acommercial metering point and custody transfer station atthe main Zapolyarye-Purpe oil pipeline. Itisexpected that these facilities will bebrought into operation atthe end of2016.

The engineering and economic principles underpinning the development ofMessoyakha were finalized atthe end of2013, including issues relating tothe geology, the location ofsurface infrastructure, and logistics. Aprogramme ofcommercial test drilling will becarried out in2014, toinclude six development wells (there will be20intotal) and four exploration wells (ofatotal 66). Full-scale production drilling will start in2015.

Commercial delivery ofraw materials has also begun this season. Itisexpected that this will amount tomore than 2,000 tonnes ofhydrocarbons. Oil will betransported bytanker tothe Korotchayevo station inthe Purovsky region, then onbyrail tothe users. Oil was first transported from the field onapilot basis atthe beginning of2013.

REFERENCE

The group ofMessoyakha fields includes the East and West Messoyakha sites. The licences for both blocks belong toZAO Messoyakhaneftegaz, which isjointly controlled byJSC Gazprom Neft and Rosneft. JSC Gazprom Neft isthe operator ofthe project.

The fields were discovered inthe 1980s and are the northernmost ofthe known Russian oil fields located onshore. The Messoyakha group islocated onthe Gydan Peninsula inthe Taz region ofthe Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, 340km north ofthe city ofNovy Urengoy inthe Arctic climate zone, inaregion with undeveloped infrastructure.
