LONDON, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, January 8, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SMi are pleased to announce that Steve Plumb, Head of Metering at Thames Water, will be making a keynote address at SMi’s 3rd annual conference on Smart Water Systems taking place this April in London.

Thames Water announced in a recent press release, that they were to begin a programme to install smart water meters across 100% of their connections by 2030. The scheme will be the first in the UK to use smart water metering and will also include the fitting of free water-saving devices that can help reduce a home’s water use by up to a quarter.

The case study presentation entitled: Smart Water Metering in Thames Water, will take place on 28th April and provide unique insights into lessons learned, as well as discussing the rolling out of progressive metering across the Thames Region.

Steve Plumb, commented:

“We all have a vital role to play in reducing demand for water, but first everyone needs to understand what they are using. That’s why we’re fitting smart meters across our region as by knowing more we can all waste less…Metering is the fairest way to pay for water because you pay for what you use, value what you pay for and as a result tend to use water more efficiently.”

Through industry driven case studies and 19 speaker presentations from leading water utility companies including Scottish Water, Vitens, Delta N.V, and Energy Saving Trust, this event will aim to provide a comprehensive overview on smart water systems with a focus on new initiatives, technologies, plus much more.
