Pilot drilling completed at Novoport field
8 October 2013Gazprom Neft has successfully completed adrilling program, part ofalarger pilot development program atNovoport field, one ofthe largest fields being developed inthe Yamal region.
Production has begun atthe third horizontal well drilled atthe second multi-well pad atNovoport. The length ofthe new well’s horizontal section exceeds 930meters. The well’s flow rate reaches 210 tons ofoil per day, which exceeds target values by50percent.
Thus, eight production wells are currently functioning atthe field, including five atthe first multi-well pad and three atthe second. The average flow rates ofsix ofthese wells are twice asgreat astheir respective target values.
The results achieved atthe wells will help better understand the oil inplace atthe field and determine the best way todevelopit. Gazprom Neft plans tocomplete the pilot development program inthe near future, and tobegin afull-scale drilling program in2014 inpreparation for the beginning ofcommercial production atNovoport.
Atpresent, the field infrastructure building project isunderway. Apipeline isbeing built tothe onshore complex inthe Kamenny cape area from which oil will beexported bysea. Construction ofanoil lease automatic custody transfer (LACT) unit, part ofthe transshipment complex, iscontinuing. Anarctic oil loading terminal isinthe design stage. Testing ofthe existing central gathering facility oil tanks has completed. The design capacity ofthe first line is400,000 tons ofoil per year.
REFERENCE
Novoport field isone ofthe largest developed oil and gas condensate fields inYamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The field’s categories C1and C2recoverable reserves exceed 230 million tons ofoil and 270 billion cubic meters ofgas. Oil was produced atNovoport field for the first time inAugust 2012 during testing ofaproduction well drilled atthe first multi-well pad.
