Healthcare Technology Is Making Care Easier

06/26/2013 (press release: juliefry) // Boston, MA, USA // Julie Fry

Boston-based Making Care Easier (MCE) is proud to announce the launch of its new, free mobile application for MCE Android and iPhone smart phones. Through this unique application, caregivers, families and in-home care providers can more quickly and effectively coordinate care needs, appointments, and communications among multiple parties living and working in different locations and better perform the other day to day tasks that come with caregiving for elderly relatives.

MCE’s mobile application alleviates constant worry and countless phone calls, emails and texts among family members. In action, caregivers are able to be in continual contact with each other and if needed professional in-home care givers. Everyone can access care updates, informational messages can be posted, and users can access emergency alerts and emergency care plans.

Given the need for geographically disbursed families to find ways to best care for their aging parents, MCE provides a platform for all to be on the same page and be able to help. MCE Company officials were also mindful of the need for a free tool given the nation’s aging demographic and rising health care costs increasingly pushed to these families.

Mary Jane Favazza, MCE Chief Executive Officer said, “10 million caregivers over 50 who care for their parents lose an estimated $3 trillion in lost wages, pensions, retirement funds and benefits according to the National Association of Caregivers. We need to help families and streamlining care activities saves families real money and real time.”

The MCE mobile app is a real time saver. It allows me to keep everyone up to date and know what we all are supposed to be doing to help do our best in caring for our family,” said Dr. Betsy Wargo, an MCE user.

MCE Caregiving Facts:

Of the approximately 52 million Americans who act as a caregiver to an adult who is ill or disabled, approximately 59% are employed per the AARP and National Alliance for Caregiving, Caregiving in the U.S. Demographic trends indicate that a greater number of employees of all ages will assume the role of family caregiver for an increasingly older population. In combination, these trends mean that more employees will be dealing with eldercare issues. This brings to the forefront an urgent need for employers to actively address how to best facilitate the realities of employees dealing with eldercare responsibilities (Metlife, Working Caregivers and Employer Health Care Costs).
