The Lake Gazette was founded in April of 1997, by journalist Linda Geist. The first edition was printed on Wednesday, April 2, 1997. The newspaper started with three employees. Linda Geist as writer, selling advertising and composing advertising pages. Linda Stinson as the photojournalist and part-time administrative assistant was Lisa Minor. Russell McCoy took the sports pictures for the newspaper. Del Buckman did the farm flyover and continues to do them each week as he has for the last 20 years by volunteering his time, photographs and airplane.
