I've called Silver Lake "home" a couple of times, living on Micheltorena Street from 1987 until 1992, and on Occidental Blvd. between 2002 and 2007, during which time we were actively engaged in the community. I had the pleasure of serving on the first Silver Lake Neighborhood Council, as Region 1 Representative and Fouunder of the Silver Lake Beautification Committee. I am especially proud of the many accomplishments of the committee; the highly-successful "Art Cans" project, the on-going efforts to bring more green space to the community, planting dozens of flower-bearing trees along Silver Lake's commercial corridors and several community-wide "beautifucation days" co-sponsored with the Silver Lake Improvement Assn.
