Quindío Is the Top Destination for Colombians Abroad Looking to Buy a Home

FLORIDA, FL, UNITED STATES, October 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Quindío is the department of choice for Colombians abroad looking to invest in real estate: according to Camacol, the Colombian Chamber of Construction, 25.1% of new homes sold in the department are purchased by Colombians living outside the country, the highest share in Colombia. The local market is also growing: between April 2025 and March 2026, 2,890 new homes were sold, up 39.5% from the previous period, according to Camacol Quindío.

Why Colombia’s Coffee Region

Colombia received US$13.098 billion in remittances in 2025, up 10.6% from the previous year, according to Banco de la República, the country’s central bank, and housing is one of the main places that money goes. As of November 2025, 12.1% of new homes sold in Colombia had been purchased by non-residents: 10% by Colombians living abroad and 2.1% by foreigners, with the United States and Spain as the main countries of origin. Prices also work in the region’s favor: the price per square meter of homes bought by non-residents in Quindío averages COP 4.4 million, compared with COP 6.5 million in Bogotá, according to Camacol. Added to this is the appeal of the destination itself. The Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011, and in 2025 the country welcomed 4.68 million foreign visitors, up 3.8% from 2024, in addition to 1.5 million Colombians living abroad.

Armóniko Living: A Place to Live, Unwind or Rent

With this buyer profile in mind, CAMU is developing Armóniko Living, an off-plan residential project on the outskirts of Armenia, along the road to El Edén International Airport. Its one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, priced from COP 562.7 million, are designed so that each owner can choose how to use them: as a primary residence, a second home or a short-term rental for tourists and professionals visiting the region. Its biophilic design includes swimming pools, a gym and a padel court.

The project is also being designed and built in accordance with NSR-10, the Colombian Earthquake-Resistant Construction Code, which sets the requirements every building in the country must meet to withstand an earthquake, and its construction follows all required on-site safety protocols.
“Today, Quindío is where many Colombians abroad, and a growing number of foreigners, are choosing to build their wealth. With Armóniko Living, we want them to be able to invest with peace of mind, enjoy their apartment when they visit and put it to work generating income while they are away,” said Clarena Mejía Giraldo, general manager of Constructora CAMU.

Half of CAMU’s Buyers Live Abroad

Constructora CAMU, which has 40 years of experience in the Coffee Region, sees this trend reflected in its own figures: of the 1,274 homes it sold in Armenia, Manizales and Dosquebradas between 2019 and 2026, 49.9% were purchased by Colombians living abroad, roughly five times the national average. In 2025, the company set a sales record with 373 units sold, and 65% of its customers buy to invest or rent. The company currently has 150 direct employees and generates around 300 indirect jobs.

The sales office is located on the road to El Edén Airport, across from Ciudad Origen (www.constructoracamu.com).
