“CHILD PREDATOR SENTENCED TO PRISON”

Grand County, Colorado – Today, Benjamin Winslow, age 30, appeared in Grand County District Court and was sentenced by Judge Mary C. Hoak to seven (7) years in prison.  Winslow plead guilty in July 2026 to Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a class 4 felony, subject to the extraordinary sentencing range and faced a maximum of eight years in prison. Winslow will be required to serve 3 years of parole after the prison sentence and is a registered sex offender.

Winslow was arrested in March 2026 following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and The Internet Crimes Against Children task force. Winslow was subsequently found in possession of 89 images and 296 videos of child sexual abuse material primarily depicting babies, toddlers and children under the age of twelve.

At the sentencing hearing, Assistant District Attorney Kathryn Dowdell argued vehemently for a department of corrections sentence highlighting the extreme abuse and graphic content of the sexual abuse images and videos. Dowdell stated “Mr. Winslow searched for these videos and images, downloaded them, kept them close, used them and took pleasure in the suffering and abuse of these children - he victimized them over and over again. While we may never know their names or where they are from, we are here today for the babies, toddlers and children in these images and videos. Justice demands a department of corrections sentence.

Sheriff Brett Schroetlin stated after the hearing, “Upholding the rule of law and holding accountable those who commit these heinous acts are essential to protecting our community. Today’s sentencing delivers justice and sends an unequivocal message: Grand County stands united, and we will not tolerate predators who seek to harm children.”

The investigation was conducted by Grand County Sheriff’s Office Detective Neil Brown with assistance from Detective Pam Starr. Assistant District Attorney Kathryn Dowdell prosecuted the case.
