MDC to host wingshooting program Sept. 18 in the Ozark Region
WEST PLAINS, Mo.- The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free Effective Wingshooting – Shoot Flying Targets program on Friday, Sept. 18 at the Rover Gun Club in West Plains. This entry-level training runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and includes an introduction to wingshooting fundamentals, including distance estimation, lifting, crossing, and shooting multiple targets with a shotgun. This class will help migratory and upland bird hunters become more efficient and ethical at harvesting game. Instructors will teach participants how to choose the correct choke, load, and shot size for different game, how to estimate shooting distances, and how to effectively lead their target using clay birds.
