JEROME, IDAHO – Idaho State Police is investigating a fatality crash that occurred at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, on interstate 84 at milepost 196.5, in Jerome County.

A 65-year-old-male from Pocatello, was driving a 2011 Toyota Avalon westbound on interstate 84 when he had an unknown medical incident. The vehicle went off the left side of the road and swerved back onto the roadway and then went off the right side of the road. The vehicle then went down the embankment where it came to rest in the gore after striking an ITD fence.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Assisted by Jerome County Sheriff’s Office, Jerome Rural Fire and Magic Valley Paramedics.

The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
