New Service | Low-Cost Rabies Vaccinations
New service for Pitt County residents
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County Animal Services (PCAS) now offers low-cost rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats at its shelter located at 4550 County Home Road, Greenville. Owners must reside in Pitt County and pets must be four months or older to meet eligibility requirements for the vaccination.
Service is by appointment only.
Appointments can be made by emailing Sherry.Sheldon@PittCountyNC.gov or calling 252-902-1725.
- Appointments can be scheduled Monday-Thursday between 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Cost is $15.00 per animal (Cash or card payment accepted).
- All vaccinations administered are one-year rabies vaccines.
- A valid photo ID is required.
- Dogs must be leashed. Cats must be transported in carriers.
Appointment process:
- Upon arrival, owners will call 252-902-1725 from their vehicle to check in.
- Shelter staff will bring owners the required paperwork, review photo ID and collect payment.
- After check-in, owners will be instructed to pull their vehicle around the building.
- Staff will administer the rabies vaccination curbside.
“Keeping pets vaccinated against rabies is an important responsibility for every pet owner,” says Kimberly Mitchell, Animal Services Director. “Our goal with this new service is to make rabies vaccinations more accessible to residents while helping protect the health and safety of our community.”
North Carolina Law: "The owner of every dog and cat over four months of age shall have the animal vaccinated against rabies." In Pitt County, owners of dog and cats that have not been vaccinated in accordance with this law are subject to a civil penalty in the amount of $100.
