Fatal Vehicle/E-Bike Collision in Spokane Valley

The Spokane Valley Traffic Unit continues to investigate a fatal vehicle/E-Bike crash in Spokane Valley. Preliminary information appears to indicate both the driver and rider failed to stop for 4-way, posted stop signs just before this fatal crash.

On August 10, 2026, at approximately 8:00 am, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to what was initially reported as a vehicle/bicycle collision on N. Progress Road at E. Valleyway Avenue in Spokane Valley.

Deputies arrived and observed an adult male E-bicyclist lying on the ground at the intersection.  The adult male driver of the pickup involved remained on scene and cooperated with Deputies.

Spokane Valley Firefighters and AMR personnel provided immediate life-saving measures for the severely injured E-bike rider, who sustained possible life-threatening injuries.  He was transported to the hospital for additional medical care, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, Spokane Valley Traffic Unit members responded to conduct the investigation.

Initial information indicates the driver of the GMC Sierra pickup was traveling south on N. Progress Road, and the rider was traveling west on E. Valleyway Avenue, crossing Progress Road when the crash occurred.

Preliminary information at this early stage of the investigation indicates that neither is believed to have stopped for the four-way stop signs posted at the controlled intersection, resulting in the collision.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the rider’s name, along with his cause and manner of death when appropriate.

This remains an active investigation, and no additional information is available.
