Fairfield County Council has formally adopted the Fairfield County Housing Study and Needs Analysis at the August 10, 2026 County Council meeting, providing the County and its community partners with a comprehensive roadmap to address current and future housing needs.

The study was commissioned by Fairfield County in 2023-2024 and conducted by MRB Group to better understand the County’s housing market and identify opportunities to support housing solutions that meet the needs of current and future residents.

The newly adopted study examines a broad range of housing-related factors, including:

• Existing housing initiatives and programs in Fairfield County;

• The condition and availability of the County’s existing housing stock;

• Real estate market conditions and housing demand;

• Input from key community and housing stakeholders; and

• Strategies and recommendations for future housing development and investment.

The recommendations outlined in the study will help guide future housing policy decisions, encourage public-private collaboration and serve as an instrumental resource for leveraging future funding opportunities. With the adoption of the study, Fairfield County can now use the findings to prioritize housing initiatives and explore strategies that support sustainable growth while addressing the evolving needs of the community.
