State begins damage assessments for historic wildfires

Washington state is asking residents affected by the historic wildfires that began on Aug. 1, 2026, to complete the online Residential Damage Survey.

The information collected from this survey will help expedite the damage assessment process following the devastating wildfire events.

The online survey is now open. Information submitted by residents helps state and local officials evaluate the extent of damage and determine the need for additional disaster assistance.

Please note: Completing the Residential Damage Self-Assessment Survey does not register you for state or federal disaster assistance. The survey is used to gather damage information and support the overall disaster assessment process.

The State Emergency Operations Center is activated to a Level 1 in support of 2026 Washington Wildfires.
