Important Notice: Colorado Vital Records offices are receiving calls from customers who have submitted requests for birth and death certificates via third-party vendors. Many of these companies charge customers high fees to provide forms processing for certificates. As of June 2026, the only Colorado Vital Records approved third-party companies are VitalChek and GoCertificates. Their processing fees are $14.00 and $12.00, respectively.
Customers who ordered through a different company, and believe they may have been misled or charged excessive fees may file a consumer complaint with the Colorado Attorney General’s Stop Fraud site or call 1-800-222-4444.
To avoid processing fees entirely, certificates may be ordered directly from a Colorado Vital Records office. Information regarding statewide office locations and ordering options is available online. Access ordering options from the state office.
The statewide fee for vital records certificates is $25 for the first copy, and $20 for each additional copy of the same record ordered at the same time.
