Nara Organics has issued a recall of their Whole Milk Organic Powdered Infant Formula. This product was sold nationwide at Target retail stores, including the Whatcom County location, as well as on Target.com and Nara.com between July 2025 and June 2026. Whatcom County Health and Community Services confirmed that the Target store in Bellingham removed the recalled product from sale immediately after the recall was announced.

The recall is associated with a multistate outbreak of three confirmed or suspected cases of infant botulism in Washington, California, and Pennsylvania. While infant botulism can be fatal, no deaths have been reported at this time.

Parents should remain vigilant if their infant has consumed any Nara Organica powdered formula. Infants are especially at risk because the bacteria can infect their intestines and produce the harmful toxin. The amount of exposure to the toxin determines how quickly symptoms appear, ranging from a few hours to several days or weeks. You can get botulism from eating contaminated food or from a contaminated wound. The disease is not spread from person to person.

What You Should Do

• Do not use recalled infant formula. Consumers who have purchased Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Powdered Infant Formula should throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased. 

• Nara will automatically refund all consumers who purchased formula from their website in May and June 2026. Other customers with unused product may request a refund by taking a photo of the bottom of each can and completing the refund form here: https://nara.com/pages/refund-request-form 
• Target customers may return their product to Target retail locations or follow Target's online return instructions.

• If your infant is experiencing symptoms related to infant botulism and has consumed Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Powdered Infant Formula, go to the Emergency Department immediately. See below for symptoms of botulism.
• Wash items and surfaces that may have come into contact with the recalled formula with hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher.

• Retailers should stop selling the affected product and dispose of any remaining in stock.

Symptoms of Botulism

Affected infants can present with some or all of the following signs and symptoms:

• Weak cry
• Constipation
• Poor feeding, difficulty sucking and swallowing
• Drooping eyelids
• Low muscle tone or general weakness

If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms and has consumed Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Powdered Infant Formula, go to the Emergency Department immediately and mention possible exposure to botulism through consumption of recalled baby formula. Immediate treatment is essential.
