Mountain View Laundry Addition Nears Completion

The main improvement—a new, on-site laundry facility—remedies a logistical challenge that has existed since the home was first built. For over a decade, staff members have been required to manually haul heavy loads of laundry back and forth to the old nursing home building.

By bringing these services under one roof, Commissioners Chuck McGee, Harold Parker, and Gene Chandler are taking a direct stand for improved sanitation, infection control and staff safety. The move eliminates the physical strain of long-distance hauling and reduces the risk of workplace injuries associated with transporting heavy linens across the campus in varying New Hampshire weather conditions.

"Our staff is the backbone of Mountain View Community," the Commissioners said in a joint statement. "Removing the burden of hauling laundry across the campus isn't just about efficiency; it's about providing a safer, more professional environment for our dedicated team. We are proud to see this project nearing the finish line."

The project is being funded through a GOFERR County Nursing Home Infrastructure Program revolving loan. Of the total $2.1 million investment, $855,000 will be reimbursed to the county, ensuring critical upgrades are made with a focus on fiscal responsibility.

Beyond the laundry facility, the improvements include: upgraded door security and fire sprinkler systems; replacement of 103 beds and the installation of new therapy tubs; and modernized nurse call system and updated rehab equipment.

Following several successful site inspections, the project remains on track to meet the June 30 GOFERR deadline.
