After multiple phases of construction and a complete makeover, Kinetic Park in Dardenne Prairie fully opens with a splash pad, outdoor pickleball courts and other new amenities on Saturday, May 30—just in time for summer. 

The park—which has always stood out with its expanding skate and extreme sports areas—is now a full-day destination for the whole family.

“The grand opening of the fully transformed Kinetic Park is the ultimate kickoff to summer,” says Ryan Graham, Director of St. Charles County Parks & Recreation. “We’ve been looking forward to celebrating these additions for years, and we’re excited to see the public enjoy the hard work that’s gone into making this park truly something for everyone.”

The roughly 18,000-square-foot splash pad and eight outdoor pickleball courts are the latest in the transformation process that started at Kinetic Park in 2021. The splash pad spans about the size of two tennis courts, with bubblers, geysers, waterfalls, three waterslides, and other water play features. 

The park’s existing mainstay attractions include an outdoor skate course, asphalt pump track, bike skills course, vert ramp, climbing gym, indoor pickleball courts, and an adventure playground. Entry to Kinetic Park and access to its amenities are free, with the exception of the climbing gym ($10 per person) and indoor pickleball courts ($5-$8 per person).

The Parks Department shifted the park’s focus and renamed it from the Youth Activity Park in 2021, making it a one-of-a-kind park in the region.

“There’s nothing like Kinetic Park,” Graham says. “I would have loved this place as a kid, and there are still things now for me to enjoy as an adult here, too.”

Grand opening festivities welcome the public from 10 a.m. to10 p.m., May 30, with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. Face painting, balloon animals, an inflatable bounce house, food trucks, live music and other special vendors are all part of the fun.
