UPDATE May 21, 2026 - Negotiations with the railroad companies have taken longer than anticipated. Bridge construction is expected to go out to bid in 2026 with construction to hopefully begin by the end of 2026.

The Clay County Road & Bridge Department is preparing to replace the Stockdale Road Bridge over the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and Union Pacific (UP) railroads. This bridge is located on Stockdale Road between NE 112th Street and Longridge Road, northeast of Liberty, Missouri.

The project will involve removing the existing bridge, constructing a new structure on the same alignment, and repaving the asphalt roadway approaches. To complete the project, temporary easements will need to be acquired from adjacent properties.

Construction is anticipated to begin in mid to late 2025 and is expected to take approximately three months. During this time, the bridge will be closed to traffic. Detour routes will be established to ensure continued access for local residents and travelers.
