COLUMBIA, Mo. (May 29, 2025) - On Thursday, May 29, the Boone County Assessor’s office mailed 56,000 real property “Change of Assessment” notices. Accompanying the notice are instructions on who to contact with questions, and information regarding the appeal process. Boone County was forced by the Missouri State Tax Commission to perform the 2025 reassessment. About 2,600 of these changes were the result of new construction, partial valuations, alterations, additions, parcel splits or combinations. The remainder of changes resulted from a 2025 equalization effort focused on the residential subclass of properties. The 2025 equalization effort is based upon our analysis of the housing market as required by Missouri law.

For those eligible taxpayers enrolled in the Boone County Senior Real Estate Tax Relief Program, please understand that this program does not affect the assessment process for your real property. Any eligible credit will be applied to your 2025 real estate tax statement that you will receive in November. The credit amounts are not known at this time; they will be calculated once the tax levies are certified and the bills are created in November.
