This #ImpactWednesday of #CommunityActionMonth, we recognize the impactful work of East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation (ECKAN) and their commitment to serving Kansans across 16 counties.

In 2025, ECKAN's dedicated efforts accomplished:

🏠 220 unduplicated active vouchers
💵 $1,151,378 in quarterly Housing Assistance Payments (HAP)
📋 488 current households on the waitlist
🤝 82 active Housing Choice Voucher landlords
🏡 53 ECKAN-owned rental units

ECKAN provides vital services to low-income individuals and families, including case management, food assistance, Head Start, housing vouchers, rental housing, and weatherization programs.

One example of their impact came in late October 2025, "ECKAN discovered a serious, emergent issue with the plumbing under one of its rental units. This left the family without access to a kitchen or a bathroom. ECKAN placed the family in a hotel, and within three days, the problem was solved with the help of two amazing contractors, Burns Handyman and Blue Heron Plumbing."
