City continues to track severe weather system on Friday morning

HONOLULU — The City and County of Honolulu is urging residents and visitors to remain vigilant as a severe weather system continues to impact the island of Oʻahu.
Weather Forecast
According to the National Weather Service, this low-pressure system is still expected to bring unstable weather conditions to Oʻahu on Friday and into the weekend. This severe weather system could result in periods of heavy rainfall, possible thunderstorms, and an elevated risk of flooding, especially on Friday morning and into Friday afternoon.
A Flood Watch remains in effect for Oʻahu through 6 p.m. on Friday, April 10. A Flood Watch means that rain leading to flash flooding is possible.
A High Wind Warning that was previously in effect for Oʻahu has been downgraded to a Wind Advisory. The Wind Advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. on Friday, April 10.
The High Surf Advisory that had previously been in effect has been canceled, as surf has fallen below advisory level.
Emergency Shelters Remain Open
Emergency shelters are currently open at the following locations:
• Wahiawā District Park
• Mānoa Valley District Park
• Wai‘anae District Park
• Kāne‘ohe District Park
• Nānākuli High and Intermediate School
• Kahuku Elementary School
At least 66 individuals sought refuge at City shelters between Thursday and Friday. There are currently no evacuation orders in place for any Oʻahu communities, but residents are strongly encouraged to monitor conditions closely and seek shelter early if they feel unsafe.
Shelters are open to both residents and visitors and are pet-friendly. Individuals are encouraged to bring essential items, including food, water, medications, and pet supplies.
Shelters are operated in partnership with the American Red Cross and houseless outreach providers and are coordinated through Partners In Care.

CORP Debris Site Cleared
The City announced Thursday that all storm debris that had been previously staged at the Central Oʻahu Regional Park (CORP) has been fully cleared. The site was temporarily activated as part of the City’s Disaster Debris Management and Operation Plan (DDMOP) to expedite storm debris removal and assist those impacted by the Kona low storms that flooded Waialua and Haleʻiwa in March.
Now that debris operations at the park is complete, restoration efforts at the park will soon begin, including testing of the soil. Fencing will remain up while the restoration process takes place over the next several weeks.
