There is an undeniable need to improve our existing building stock to reduce carbon emissions and make them sustainable into the future. Our traditional and historic (solid wall) buildings play a part in this. 

This guidance is provided to describe and explain the physical qualities of our traditional and historic buildings and how we can best approach reducing their environmental impact. The aim is to upgrade their performance while retaining their special interest, doing no harm to built fabric and benefitting the people who use them.
