Canaan, NH – On Sunday, June 30 at approximately 2:45 p.m., the NH Fish and Game Department was notified of missing elderly man from Canaan. The man, identified as Daniel Hurd, 77, was reported missing from his home by his family who could not locate him after a small search.

Conservation Officers responded to the scene where they met with Canaan Police Department, Canaan Fire Department, Enfield Police Officers, and volunteers from New England K-9. While a search of the immediate area was being conducted, a Good Samaritan arrived back at the residence with Hurd. The stranger explained he had found Hurd walking down Route 4. He was concerned for his safety as it was hot and humid and offered to give him a ride. After a brief conversation it seemed that Hurd was confused. As the Good Samaritan was trying to get help, he saw a large presence of first responders along Route 4 and decided to stop as it was in close proximity to where Hurd was first picked up. Hurd was reunited with his family at 3:50 p.m.
