To achieve high-quality employment through promoting south-south cooperation under Belt and Road initiative
The Seminar aimed to review the decade-long cooperation among the ILO, MOHRSS, and ASEAN Member countries in labour governance and social security since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013. It also looked into the shared pressing issues in labour area and provided a platform to develop sustainable solutions while setting the stage for future international collaboration.
The Seminar focused on five themes, which are high-quality employment service, protection of workers’ rights, social security, skills development, and employment policies for new forms of employment. The event also highlighted the development of ILO-China south-south technical cooperation projects implemented in ASEAN Member States over the past decade.
ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Chihoko Asada-Miyakawa recalled the ILO-China cooperation under Belt and Road initiative in her opening speech and called for multilateralism and coordinated efforts to tackle the challenges in labour market.
The ILO welcomes the commitment of a US$10 billion special fund to implement Global Development Initiative by Chinese government, .... which will greatly strengthen multilateralism. By supporting poverty reduction in China and other countries under Belt and Road Initiative, the ILO will continually contribute to creating decent job opportunities and achieving human-centred sustainable development."

MOHRSS Vice Minister Yu Jiadong presented China’s progress in human resources and social security area under Belt and Road Initiative over the decade.
