Government temporarily bans exports of petrol and diesel fuel to stabilise domestic market

RUSSIA, September 21 - Resolution No. 1537 of 21 September 2023

A temporary restrictions on the export of petrol and diesel fuel have been introduced in Russia. The relevant resolution was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The decision was made to stabilise fuel prices in the domestic market.

The temporary ban will help saturate the fuel market, which in turn will reduce consumer prices.

Earlier, to stabilise fuel prices, the Government increased the minimums of petrol and diesel fuel volumes that companies can sell through the exchange market. A daily monitoring system of the volumes of fuel purchased for the agricultural sector with a prompt adjustment mechanism has been also launched.
