A Study published by Decennial 2020: The Sixth International Conference on Healthcare Associated Infections (Initiative of the Centers for Disease Controls and Prevention & the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America) concluded that floors of Hospitals rooms are frequently contaminated with pathogenic microbes within hours of patient admission thus creating a route of potentially dangerous organisms to patients.

Doctor Curtis Donskey MD, senior author of the study stated, “if Bacteria stayed on the floors this wouldn’t matter, but we’re seeing clear evidence that these organisms are transferred to patients despite our current control efforts.”

Furthermore, a study published in the Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology quantified overtime the extremely rapid evolving contamination of a live virus in a patient’s room. By inoculating the floor of a patient room with a live virus (non-pathogenic), the scientists followed for three (3) consecutive days the evolution of the viral contamination that was initially deposited solely on the floor of a specific patient room. B.90 % of the Bed linen of the patient on day 1 and 100% on day 3
C.50 % of the side table on day 1 and 100 % on day 2
D.100% of the Chairs on Day 2

While numerous scientific publications clearly demonstrated that hospital patient room floors are frequently contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus, Vancomycin resistant enterococcus, Clostridium Difficile, Coronavirus SARS CoV-2 to name a few, this additional study demonstrated not only a very rapid evolving speed of contamination but also an astonishing progression from the floor to all surfaces of the patient room starting with the bed itself.

Shockingly, the study also revealed that the virus did not stay in the patient’s room since it had progressed to contaminate 100 % of the adjacent hospital rooms but additionally the virus had taken over and contaminated between 52.9 % and 63 % of the nursing stations.
