First regional knowledge-sharing workshop on the impact of trade and investment policies on productive and decent employment in the Southern Mediterranean countries
The hybrid event provided a space for policymakers from the Southern Mediterranean region to exchanged knowledge and experience on the impact of trade and investment policies on productive and decent employment. It featured discussions and group work which generated recommendations and an action plan for policy makers and development practitioners in the region on how to align trade and investment policies with employment objectives.
Inputs were provided by ILO colleagues from headquarters and the field, as well as by the EC Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), the International Trade Center (ITC), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
METI is a four-year regional programme funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Labour Organization. It aims to enable policy makers in the Southern Mediterranean region to incorporate an employment perspective into trade and investment policies. This will support the design and implementation of investment strategies that optimize the quantity and quality of employment creation in the region.
