The free flow of skilled migrant workers within ASEAN continues to be acknowledged as one of the key regional initiatives in promoting skills recognition in the region.
With the ongoing support from the ILO/Korea Partnership Programme, the MRS initiative has been able to attain significant milestones in this ambitious and critical endeavour for mutually recognizing skills certification in bricklaying and plastering as comparable. The pilot initiative will pave the way for Cambodian migrant skilled bricklayers and plasters in Thailand to gain access to pay and working conditions that reflect their skills level. The pilot provides a model for other countries and other occupations to achieve similar outcomes.
