The 2023 Arizona Author Series Explores the Culture and History of Arizona

March 2 - Writer Wynne Brown will speak about her book, The Forgotten Botanist: Sara Plummer Lemmon's Life of Science and Art.

About The Forgotten Botanist: In 1870, Sara Plummer left the East Coast and moved to Santa Barbara. Soon after, she built a library and taught herself botany. A decade later, she married botanist John Gill Lemmon and together they documented hundreds of plant species throughout the Southwest. Yet, she is often only credited as “J.G. Lemmon & wife” though her contributions were vast. This book is an homage to her resilience, ambition, and extraordinary work.
