Nebraska Department of Economic Development Awards $6 million for the Internships and Crime Prevention Grant

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) awarded $6,000,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) to The Simple Foundation. The Internships and Crime Prevention Grant was created under LB1024, also known as the Economic Recovery Act, to respond to the negative economic impacts of the Coronavirus public health emergency.

DED quickly developed an action plan for the implementation of these funds.

The funds awarded through the Internship and Crime Prevention provide grants up to $6,000,000 (up to $3,000,000 in FY 2022-2023 and up to $3,000,000 in FY 2023-2024) to a nonprofit organization partnering with a city of the metropolitan class for the purpose of providing internships and crime prevention within qualified census tracts located within the boundaries of such city.
