PennDOT Announces Refresh for Atherton Street Project Page
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting area residents and travelers that its Atherton Street (Route 3014) project page has been refreshed and is now available to the public. The project page for the Atherton Street work can be found at www.penndot.gov/AthertonStreet.
Preliminary work on the State College project may begin the week of July 18, with full-fledged work expected to get underway the week of July 25. This is a 3-year project, scheduled for completion in fall of 2024.
Overall work will include roadway reconstruction, drainage improvements –including pipes and inlets, water and sewer lines, concrete curbing, sidewalks and detectable warning surfaces, pavement markings, traffic signals and supports, and miscellaneous items. The work zone stretches from Curtin Road to just north of Westerly Parkway.
PennDOT will post regular updates to the project page week-to-week, as project work is scheduled. The project page also features work zone mapping, staff contacts, and other items of note. Detour information will also be posted to the page as needed—dependent on scheduled work.
HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $30.7 million job. Drivers are reminded that all work is weather and schedule dependent. Drivers are also reminded to move through work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
