PM Fiala receives Polish President Andrzej Duda in his official residence

CZECH REPUBLIC, April 27 - On 27 April 2022, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, received Polish President Andrzej Duda, who visited the Czech Republic at the invitation his Czech counterpart Miloš Zeman, at the Kramář’s Villa, the Czech PM’s official residence. The main topics of the bilateral meeting included the war in Ukraine, its impact on the European Union and the steps taken by both countries in response to this conflict.

The two statesmen also discussed the prospects for the development of Czech-Polish relations, especially in the energy sector, as a response to Russia’s announcement to unilaterally halt gas supplies to Poland.

“At the meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland we confirmed our commitment to continue our support to Ukraine. I thanked President Duda for the support and commitment of Polish society in helping Ukraine and its people. We also agreed that we must respond to the effects of the war on Europe. Ensuring energy security is our priority. In this respect, there are a number of projects that may even further improve Czech-Polish relations and at the same time ensure secure energy supplies for our citizens,” said Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

The Czech Prime Minister will follow up on today’s meeting with a visit to Poland on Friday, when he will meet his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw. The meeting will mainly focus on the situation in Ukraine, but they will also discuss energy security, bilateral co-operation and preparations for the Czech EU Presidency.
