Nonlawyers cannot form or run a law firm, State Bar group decides
(Subscription required) Gregory Fortescue, lead attorney at the state Supreme Court, said during the Wednesday meeting: “Paraprofessionals can be employees … they can form a partnership. But we have to remove the term ‘lawyer.’ … They cannot form a firm without a lawyer.”
