IBITGQ awards first certificates in the UK
/EINPresswire.com/ The International Board for IT Governance Qualifications (IBITGQ) - www.ibitgq.org - has announced that the first IBITGQ certificates were awarded to delegates who successfully passed the exam, leading to one of the three professional qualifications currently offered by the association.
Delegates who attended the ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Implementer course in May 2011 are the first to receive the Certified ISMS Lead Implementer (CIS LI) qualification awarded by IBITGQ. All candidates had to complete and pass an IBITGQ exam delivered as part of an approved IBITGQ training course. The course and the examination were delivered by IT Governance (www.itgovernance.co.uk), a UK based ISO27001 and information security training and consultancy provider, who are the first IBITGQ Approved Training Organisation (ATO) in the UK.
At present, IBITGQ (www.ibitgq.org) awards three types of certificates: ISMS Foundation (CIS F), ISMS Lead Implementer (CIS LI) and Certified ISMS Lead Auditor (CIS LA) to candidates who enrol in an ATO's course and take the exam at the end of the course. The certificates are issued by the Global Association for Software Quality (GASQ), an independent international association which works non-for-profit.
Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance, comments, "Qualifications that are certified by accredited and respected organisations are becoming an essential requirement of any IT governance professional. With an ever increasing demand for information security professionals, employers are prepared to make generous offers to candidates who have relevant experience and the necessary internationally recognised qualifications. We are delighted that we have been approved by IBITGQ to deliver training courses which can enhance the career of every IT professional."
The award of the first certificates is a key milestone in establishing IBITGQ as an independent association dedicated to delivering international qualifications recognised on a global basis. With an approved training programme and formal certification scheme supported by experienced exam bodies, the organisation is well placed to set the standards for the continued professional development of IT governance professionals in the future.
