Connect to the NHS N3 network with affordable consultancy service

/EINPresswire.com/ IT Governance Ltd, the ISO27001 and information security experts, urge organisations, which want to connect to the N3 NHS service, that now is the right time to prepare for compliance.

With the IG Toolkit version 9 having been released just a few days ago and the final submission deadline for assessment being end of March 2012, organisations should not delay the completion of the toolkit in order to secure their connection to the NHS N3 network.

Both Commercial Third Parties and NHS Business Partners are required to assess themselves against requirements for management structures and responsibilities, confidentiality and data protection, and information security.

The benefits to organisations which have gained access to the NHS Connecting for Health are considerable. Approved Commercial Third Parties, the business operations of which, typically do not directly involve patients, would be able to provide services, usually IT-related, to the NHS. NHS Business Partners are healthcare providers which, once connected, would be able to treat patients on behalf of the NHS and receive patients from the NHS in addition to receiving patients through other routes.

For many organisations, completing the IG Toolkit, as well as uploading and referencing of evidence to support their application, takes a lot of time and hard work. Therefore, IT Governance is offering a specialist NHS N3 Connecting for Health Consultancy Service to assist organisations in becoming N3 complaint and connected, whilst taking away the problem of resourcing key aspects of the project.

Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance, says, "The benefit to our clients of having a specialist consultant on board is that it allows them to get on with their day job, while our consultants take care of all the N3 connectivity-related issues".

The NHS Connecting for Health requirements are based on the controls from the ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management Standard. This means that organisation must have in place, or be developing, a robust information security management system (ISMS). With their extensive experience of ISO27001 implementation and practical knowledge, IT Governance's consultants have assisted a large number of organisations in achieving a connection to the NHS N3 network.

There are various levels of consultancy support which IT Governance offer their clients - from an N3 gap analysis, to assistance with key milestones, such as N3 training and auditing, through to full application and IG Toolkit submission on behalf of the client.

For smaller organisations, designated as commercial third parties, with up to 20 employees and a single office location, the experts at IT Governance have designed a special FastTrack N3 Consultancy Service at a one-off fixed fee of £5,000 + VAT.

With its low cost and fast implementation, this service delivers N3 compliance with minimal disruption to the organisation's business activities, and without the time and additional cost required to develop 'in-house' expertise.

"Our experience of working with smaller companies has shown that we can accelerate the application process and comfortably help organisations achieve N3 compliance over an eight-week period," adds Alan Calder.
