Gazprom implementing programs to enhance gas supply reliability in Russian regions

Taking part in the meeting were heads of Gazprom’s specialized subdivisions and subsidiaries – Gazprom transgaz Saint Petersburg, Gazprom invest Zapad and others.

The meeting emphasized that Gazprom was upgrading, repairing and constructing gas transmission facilities as part of the Comprehensive Action Plan. The gas transmission system enhances reliability of gas supplies to Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast.

In particular, between 2008 and 2010 over 443 kilometers of gas trunklines, 133.5 kilometers of gas laterals and some 9 kilometers of compressor station (CS) flowlines were overhauled.

Design and survey work is underway to retrofit gas trunklines and compressor stations. These are the Serpukhov – Leningrad, Belousovo – Leningrad, Gryazovets – Leningrad gas pipelines (strings 1 and 2), the Novgorod, Volkhov, Torzhok and Valdai CS. The Pikalevo CS is under construction.

“Gazprom primarily faces the challenge of uninterrupted gas supply to consumers. The challenge can be met through reliable operation of each and every element of the gas transmission system. This is especially important when gasifying densely populated Russian regions such as Moscow, Moscow Oblast, Saint Petersburg, Leningrad Oblast and others,” Alexander Ananenkov said.

Based on the meeting results, the Company’s specialized subdivisions and subsidiaries were tasked to continue implementing the Comprehensive Action Plan.
