Statement by Premier Dennis King on Remembrance Day

CANADA, November 10 - Hon. Dennis King, Premier of Prince Edward Island issued the following statement on Remembrance Day:

“Every year on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Islanders and all Canadians honour the courage and sacrifice of veterans, armed forces members and all those who have served, and continue to serve, our country.

We also recognize the families who have lost sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, and cared for those who have returned with injuries, both visible and invisible. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we gather at cenotaphs in communities or join a virtual ceremony online and pay respect to generations of Canadians who bravely risked their lives to protect ours, we are reminded of the horrors of war. We must all stand together – united − against hate and violence, and work together to build a more peaceful world.

At 11 a.m. today, I encourage all Islanders to observe a moment of silence to remember those who have fought for us and our country – to give us the freedoms that we experience each and every day in Prince Edward Island and across our great country.

Lest we forget.”
