Gov. Ricketts Condemns President Biden’s Proposal to End Hyde Amendment Budget Protections
LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement following news that President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.’s budget proposal had removed key language known as the “Hyde Amendment.”
“In a radical move, President Biden has removed pro-life protections in his proposed budget to Congress,” said Gov. Ricketts. “If approved by Congress, federal taxpayer dollars could be used for elective abortions for the first time since the 1970s. This is not only an attack on human dignity, but also on deeply held beliefs of millions of Americans who rightly believe that abortion is the murder of an unborn child.”
“I urge everyone to contact their congressional representatives to let them know you support keeping the Hyde Amendment in the next federal budget.”
