Russell Shadden of Kirbyville won a $50,000 Powerball prize from the May 8 drawing after playing the same set of numbers for three years. Shadden said he picked his numbers from a combination of important dates for his family. “I have the Missouri Lottery app on my phone, so I looked at it Sunday morning,” Shadden shared. “I knew that those were my numbers. I was in disbelief!”

The winning numbers on May 8 were 12, 17, 20, 21 and 26, with a Powerball number of 8.

Shadden’s winning ticket, which matched four of five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball, was purchased at Casey's General Store, 15581 Highway 160, in Forsyth.

Powerball is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. All current and past winning numbers can be found at MOLottery.com.

In FY20, players in Taney County won more than $11.2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $1.1 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $1.1 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.

All Missouri Lottery offices are currently open – by appointment only – for claims of $600 or more. Winning tickets may also be claimed by mail.
