All Russian Gazprom Neft airport refuelling complexes have now switched to full electronic data management (EDM)

Gazpromneft-Aero, operator of Gazprom Neft’s aviation refuelling business, has completed its transition to full electronic data management (EDM) in transactions with air carriers and service providers at all refuelling complexes throughout Russia. Thanks to the deployment of this digital service paper-based document flows in the refuelling process are down 90%.

Gazpromneft-Aero’s digital service means air carriers can allocate costs for every flight, aircraft, airport, and all fuel and services, automatically, and manage all reconciliation statements, pricing agreements and other documentation online. Pursuant to Russian legislation, electronic documentation can be signed by digital signatures and transmitted through an independent system operator. The package includes a Russian universal transfer document (UTD) and IATA-standard XML-format documentation used throughout the aviation industry worldwide. On which basis, Gazpromneft-Aero clients are now receiving information in the same universal format for both their Russian and international refuelling operations.

Gazpromneft-Aero began moving over to EDM in 2018 — the most recent refuelling complex to connect to this digital system being in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, using satellite data transmission channels. Forty-six refuelling complexes throughout Russia are already connected to the Gazpromneft-Aero system, with the service being used by more than 90 Russian and international aviation companies.

“Deploying modern technologies and digital systems not only delivers significantly faster data transmission and processing, but also guarantees a high level of economic security and financial control. All important legal documents on ‘wing-tip’ refuelling — from Kaliningrad to Anadyr — are now being stored and processed in a single database. Integrating and using this information in an inclusive integrated digital environment is a major step forward in improving our businesses’ operational efficiency. We see considerable potential in developing online services, and are working towards creating a cohesive digital ecosystem across Gazprom Neft’s entire aviation refuelling business.”
